In mid-March 2020, bestselling author Jens Jando Koch and Nina Deutschmann launched a #kulturchallenge in the fight against coronavirus. Here is the idea behind the #kulturchallenge:
“Within a very short space of time, public life in Germany has reached a state of emergency and official guidelines are forcing people to retreat into their own four walls. What is the right thing to do out of a sense of responsibility for society can become a stress test for the individual, regardless of whether he or she is stuck in quarantine or in the home office by order, looks after the children, belongs to a risk group or simply stays at home of their own free will.
The first thing that goes down the drain is public spirit”. “And cohesion is particularly important in difficult times. Culture is an important inspiration and catalyst. When both are hardly possible in practice, we have to find new ways to stay in touch with each other, comfort each other, encourage each other and exchange ideas.” That is why I have launched a cultural challenge “Together against Corona”. Via social media, we invite people to virtual readings, concerts, yoga and comedy in the artists’ living rooms via live stream. To ensure that the idea reaches a large audience, encourages people to join in and triggers a social impulse, we are nominating four more cultural practitioners to follow our example. “I hope for a positive impulse for everyone who listens and watches. And for support for our colleagues in the cultural sector, authors and poets, musicians and singers, actors and dancers, who are particularly suffering from the closures.”
I was then nominated by Jens Jando Koch without further ado. Since March 23, 2020, I have been reading from my works via live stream on Facebook at regular intervals. The readings are very well received:)
